Stay Safe this New Year’s Eve

Posted by

If you’re going out to parties or bars this Saturday, keep in mind a few rules of thumb to stay as safe as possible.

It’s obvious to say don’t drink and drive, but there are many other safety issues surrounding getting home after ringing in the new year. Don’t assume that plans will work themselves out. If you are going out to a party or bar make sure there is someone sober to drive everyone who needs a ride, whether it’s a friend or a taxi service. Not only is a trustworthy ride important to avoid accidents, no one (no matter if they are a man or woman) should walk home alone, especially if intoxicated.

Be Alert & Stick Together

You want to stick with your friends anyway right? Make sure not to drink from anything you’ve left alone and remind your friends not to as well. Be aware of what’s happening around you. We’ve all experienced being around those irrational people that start acting aggressively when they drink too much. If you see something happening, make sure your friends are with you and leave. If it looks like it will get really bad, call the police.

Keep Tabs On Your Phone

The last thing you want is to be stuck looking for your phone or trying to figure out how to contact someone because your phone’s dead at 3 am instead of snuggling into bed. Make sure your phone is fully charged before leaving and keep it in a secure place an keep an eye on the battery. If you know you are going to be taking lots of photos, videos or using apps then it might be wise to take a cheap portable battery with you.

Also keep in mind that carry a gun probably isn’t wise if you or the people you will be around are going to be intoxicated.
